One thing I didn’t do because I was afraid of spending the money was hiring other music producers to help me produce a song with my vocals. I was worried it wouldn’t sound great, or that I wouldn’t make the money back. I realize that these are kind of silly reasons. If I don’t like one producer’s work, I can always try another producer, or look at their reviews first. And also, it doesn’t have to be expensive to work with a producer. Some are on Fiverr and will help you produce your song for $50 or less. That’s not much, because even if you only earn a few dollars per month in streams for the song, you will eventually make back the money in a couple years or less. And, that’s not much to “lose” anyway. In the end, you have your own song.
I think I’ve lost money and subscribers/followers by not investing in producing music earlier. I could have either produced music myself (and learned), or have received help from a producer. I may have finished an album by now had I been more persistent.
I don’t think I need to spend so much money on getting help with producing, mixing, or mastering. I could set a limit for myself, like start off with just $100/month and see where it goes. And, I could even blog or post a video about my progress.
In the next two weeks, I can invest in myself by continuing to take that Spanish course on Udemy. I will aim for one lesson per week. And as for music production, I can research different music producers on Fiverr and other websites, and find the one with good reviews, good samples, and a good price that fits my $100/month budget. I could also look up YouTube videos of other singers who hired music producers for producing their album or song covers.
In the next six months, assuming that coronavirus is under control, I will definitely go out once a week with friends, exploring new places in the city. I might sign up for a class based on my interests. Steve Pavlina’s Conscious Growth Club doesn’t open until April, so that’s one program I want to invest in then.
This lesson of Success Triggers definitely made me open up to receiving help in producing music as an investment in myself. I hadn’t previously thought of budgeting the expense. Ramit didn’t mention budgeting in his lesson, but I just thought of it while thinking about why I didn’t want to make the investment. I was worried about spending too much, but I don’t have to do that. So, it may be worth it to explore.
