Adversities

“You will never truly know yourself or the strength of your relationships until both have been tested by adversity.” – J.K. Rowling

Adversity is the true test of strength in a relationship or in yourself. How you respond to adversity determines your character. It is the indicator of how prepared you are.

When our relationships suffer in some way, the outcome of that relationship determines our strength. And when we internally suffer, our actions determine our strength or perseverance. Either way, we can determine our true character.

Everyone faces hardships and trials of tribulation and some point or another in their lives. But we can grow from those trials and learn how to become better human beings through those tough times. We don’t have to fall down and suffer. We can find ways to get back up again and to recover.

Usually when we experience adversity, we slide downwards. We experience challenges and have to take our time figuring out a way through or around those adversities. Sometimes, we slide backwards in progress. That is okay and to be expected. On the path of success, we may face several obstacles that we must overcome. There’s bound to be some failures on the road to success.

When we face hardships, our relationships are also tested. The ones that survive are the strong relationships with more lasting ties. Other relationships may slowly fade away in a different direction. That might mean that it’s time to experience new friendships, which will accommodate your new stage of life. Sometimes, it may even give us a chance to rekindle old friendships that went to the side for other reasons.

Either way, adversities can teach us a lot about ourselves. It can teach us a lot about other people too. So take adversity as a gift for you to learn how to navigate change, not as something to bring you down forever. Remember, all adversities are temporary.
